Well you can't grow up having my dad and not love a few things. Example: The Beatles, spaghetti, Star Wars. I must admit, I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd. My dad will randomly quote a line from one of the movies and I can tell him who said it and which movie it's from, for the most part. I'm not as into the movies as he is but I must admit that I enjoy them muchly.
I've even created a Jedi alter-ego for myself. Her name is Aya Starchaser. I created her because I rewrote some parts of the Star Wars movies (like I do with practically every movie) and I decided that Padme dies in episode two (I can't stand her). But then I realized Luke and Leia had to be born and what a better way to fix this than to create a new mother for them and base her off of myself. And so Aya Starchaser was born.
Other than myself, my favorite Jedi is undoubtedly Anakin Skywalker.
Because he is awesome. And he has a cool story. And he's awesome.
Yup there's my secret love, Friends. You're welcome.

Day 23: A Way in Which You Want to be Remembered
I want to be remembered as the crazy Jesus Follower with no fear. I want to be remembered for opening a house for pregnant teenage girls to live in when they've been rejected by the rest of the world. I want to be remembered as the girl who never stopped singing. I want to be remembered as something next to normal. I want to be remembered as brilliant.
Iridescent.
Independent.
Vivacious.
I want to be remembered for the things I did and the things I didn't do. I want to be remembered for the lives I pointed to Jesus and the lives I saved from abortion. I want to be remembered for the talents I helped people develop. I want to be remembered for the standards I set for myself - and kept to. I want to be remembered as an explorer.
A star.
A dare-devil.
A hero.
I want to be remembered for living in the moment, for having no regrets and for never looking back. I want to be remembered as the crazy right-brained, right winger who never stepped down from a fight. I want to be remembered as sunshine and moonlight. I want to be remembered as abnormally bright.
Unusually cheerful.
Exceptionally optimistic.
Ridiculously brave.
Iridescent.
Independent.
Vivacious.

Day 21: Something You Know You Do Better Than Most People
Weeeeell I don't really want to be conceited or anything. I have a few different gifts and abilities and I am so blessed by God! But I have to post something.
So.
I'll post something I think I do better than most who are in the public eye today.
Song writing.
This is one of the talents I have that not many know about. I *adore* writing songs and because of this thingy I'll post some of my lyrics I wrote this summer.

Song writing.
This is one of the talents I have that not many know about. I *adore* writing songs and because of this thingy I'll post some of my lyrics I wrote this summer.
Summer Again
Verse One
Speeding down that old dusty road
Convertible top down
I'm thinking to myself
I'm thinking to myself
Dang my life is good
I've got my Wayfarers
You've got your worn out jeans
The music's blaring loud
I'm right where I wanna be
Pre-Chorus
It's finally here
Finally here
Chorus
Spring is finally over
The sun is shining brighter
The day's already ours so
Let's go rock the world
But now I know that Summer
Doesn't last forever
Soon this will all be over
There's just one thing I will ask
Won't you wake me up when it's Summer again
Verse Two
Staying out until after dark
Swimming pools, amusement parks
I'm thinking to myself
I wish this could last forever
It doesn't get much better than this
Short shorts and our hair a mess
Sleeping in till after noon
Spending all my time with you
Bridge
Only nine more months
And then we'll rock the world once more
But now it's back to the books
I wish I could go flying out that door
It keeps me awake
It keeps my focused
But I'm anticipating
The freedom I know is coming
It's coming

Day 20: A Hobby of Yours
Duh. I've posted about this numerous times. It's not a hobby. It's a lifestyle choice. Writing. I'll post a little something I wrote freshman year. Tell me if you like it :)
Gary and Peter
Gary and Peter
A Tragedy by Charity Segovia
It was almost time. This much Gary knew. He had become accustomed to this dreaded hour since the Wilson’s picked him and his 1,032 brothers and sisters up at the grocery store. He and his best friend Peter would just close their eyes and pray for it to be over. It was finally here. It was . . . snack time. Gary was a Gummy Bear, and so snack time was a time of which he would not put, but he didn’t have a choice. Peter was a pretzel stick, so he too was venerable to the monstrosities Mom and Dad Wilson called their children as well. Sam, Beth and little Joey they were, and Gary knew that the more children there were in the house, the more chance there was of being eaten. It was just a matter of time before the children discovered him and ripped him apart with their razor sharp fangs. But the children weren’t the only enemy of the Gummy Bear/pretzel team. There was also Chris, the baby carrot.
Chris found it amusing that the children had a taste for the sweet and the salty, but not for the healthy. He would laugh as the children turned their noses up at him and went for Gary and Peter’s families. Even the sight and the sound of this vial creature made the dynamic duo sick, but they had to live with it, because if there was one thing they were certain of, it was that the three little beasts would gladly finish off the Gummy Bears and the pretzels before they even touched the baby carrots. And this posed Gary and Peter with a problem. If they escaped from the packaging and hid deep in the cabinet, Mom Wilson would just throw them in the trash when she cleaned it out, and they would be forced to face yet another horrible death. Between that and the gaping jaws of the children, they had to choose their own demise.
The two bags of snack food were near empty now, and the two could tell that it was getting down to the wire. On a day soon to come, they would be eaten, all to the sound of Chris’s scornful chuckle. Gary knew he had to feed Chris to the children. But how? They wouldn’t touch anything good for you. But the sound of Dad Wilson’s voice during that particular snack time left him hopeful.
“Kids! You have to eat something healthy today! Have some of the baby carrots!”
“Awe Dad! Can’t we have something good too?”
“Sure, have some pretzels, but only a few.”
Darn you, Sam Wilson! This could mean only one thing. Not only was Gary going to witness the death of his mortal enemy, but also that of his best friend. The kids threw open the cabinet and pulled out the bag of pretzel sticks. The bag of baby carrots was already lying on the table. The kids divided up the loot, put the rest of the baby carrots away, and threw the empty pretzel bag into the trash can.
“No!” Chris cried out as Beth Wilson bit into his head.
“Yes!” thought Gary. Chris was dead! But the Wilson kids, blinded by their gluttony, forgot to close the cabinet door, so Gary looked frantically around the kids’ napkins for Peter. He saw him lying on Joey’s, and knew he had to save his friend. That moment, Gary knew what he had to do. He gathered up all his strength, and flung himself to the ground. Joey, noticing a chance to get something good for his taste buds, picked him up and lifted him to his mouth.
“Gary, NO!” the sound of Peter’s voice was the last thing Gary heard before Joey took a bite.

Day 19: A Talent of Yours
Well you all must know that I write. All the time. And that writing's probably one of my greatest abilities. I also enjoy acting, photography, and baking lemon bars. But the talent I'm posting today is a little bit different.
Singing.
I loooooove to sing. I sing all the time. I haven't been singing much recently because I've been so sick (sob) but I can post something from karaokeplay.com that I recorded some time ago. Yes it is from Wicked. And no it's not my best attempt at this song but I thought I'd post it anyway. Be brutal!

Day 18: A Time When You Felt Passionate and Alive
There's actually a story behind this one that I must relate to you if you are to understand. So relax and prepare yourself.
Y'all know that the song Defying Gravity from Wicked is my favorite song in the whole universe right? Well it wasn't always. All of my friends had the Wicked soundtrack on their iPods and I knew a few of the songs but they weren't really a big deal to me.
Then one day I woke up and had a song in my head that I'd never heard before in my life. I Googled the lyrics and discovered the song was called Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked but the version in my head, one sung by a guy, couldn't be found anywhere. So I had my cousin see if he could find out if there was a guy who sang this song and he discovered a version sung by Chris Colfer (another one of my heroes. I'll explain why someday).
And so my love of Wicked began. I started to teach myself the song Defying Gravity but I could never hit the high F at the end.
My passionate and alive moment came when I first hit the high F.
I was in my grandparents apartment singing because everyone was gone and I could be loud. Without thinking about it, I hit the note at the very end of the song. I stopped singing. First word that came to my mind: GLORY!
I was unable to hit the note the next few times that I tried but it didn't matter. That one accomplishment catapulted me to infinity and beyond.
And now I can hit the note every time.

Day 17: An Art Piece
I think this qualifies, don't you? I've always loved this picture though I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I have a thing for black and white photography or the time period that the picture was taken in. But it's probably because I'll never know the full story behind it. Maybe they were lovers who lost each other and then were reunited at the end of the war. Or maybe the picture was staged and they were told to do it. Looking at the people around them doesn't help much, surprisingly. I guess I'll never know. But I can always make up some dreamy, far-fetched, romantic story in my mind and hope I'm right.

Day 16: A Song That Makes You Cry
Well . . . I'm not exactly what you'd call a crier. I don't cry. Ever. Or rarely. Not even at movies. I don't know, I'm just not one of those sappy people who cry all the time. Call me crazy, weird or inhuman but it's the way I am. However one song has made me cry once, and now I can't listen to it without remembering it.
Everything by Lifehouse.
Most of you if not all of you have seen the Lifehouse Everything skit. If not look it up. You will cry. I promise.
The first time I saw the skit (and the first time I really paid attention to the song) was at a youth retreat a few years ago. My church's drama group performed it during one of our night sessions and everyone was bawling their eyes out. Even the guys. The song/skit mostly made me cry because it forced me to remember how we don't appreciate our Designer for who He is. He's done so much for us you think we could at least do something for Him.
Again if you haven't seen it, look it up. It's amazing. Probably the only song to make me cry. You'll understand.

Day 15: A Person You Admire
This would definitely be Idina Menzel. I admire many many people but I thought I'd blog about her today. Where to begin? Well she was the original Elphaba Thropp in Wicked on Broadway. And y'all know how much I want to be in this musical. So she inspires me on so many levels. She's a brilliant singer and an amazing actress. And she does everything she does, she uses that powerhouse voice, she performs on the world's biggest and brightest stage all with asthma. If that's not impressive, I'm not sure what is. Anyway she's one of my heroes that I really hope to meet someday. Anyone with talent like that deserves a strong fan base.

Day 14: A Vacation You Would Like To Take
Well one of my number one goals in life is to travel to all seven continents and all fifty states. So picking just one vacation to go on is not an easy task. However, I will do so for the sake of the challenge. I would love to go to Europe.
I'd start in London . . .
Then Paris . . .
Next would be Italy . . .
Greece . . .
Germany . . .
Ireland . . .
And Spain . . .
And yes, there is a city in Spain that shares my name: Segovia. I really want to trace my roots and see if my family has anything to do with the naming of the city. But anyway, I think that answers the question.

A Prince
Something bad has happened, Friends. The video of Aaron Tveit as Fiyero Tiggular has been taken off of YouTube.
Let's take a moment to cry before we go on.
Okay.
Ready?
If you've been reading my blog for a long while (or even a little while) then you must know that I have developed an obsession with the musical Wicked and all things associated with it. More specifically, the prince, Fiyero Tiggular.
Normal girls want a Prince Charming, a Mr. Darcy, or a Gilbert Blythe. And whereas I will accept any of those three without hesitation, I have chosen my hero as Prince Fiyero of Oz.
Why: If you've seen Wicked you'd understand. He can sing, he can dance, he has a carefree spirit, he's gorgeous, he's honest, he's funny, he's brave. I have also taken to referring to myself as Elphaba Thropp. So I am just an Elphie looking for my Fiyero.
I probably couldn't count on both hands and both feet how many talented young men have portrayed this character. But I can tell you who my favorite is.
*drum roll*
Aaron Tveit.
You're probably thinking to yourself, "Duh. You blog about him once a week at least." And yes that is true. But my love of Aaron Tveit stemmed from a love of Fiyero Tiggular. Allow me to shed some light on this very important subject.
Girl is bored. Girl is watching videos of Wicked on YouTube. YouTube suggests girl watches video of Aaron Tveit as Fiyero. Girl has never heard of Aaron Tveit. But Girl loves Fiyero. Girl wonders what she has to lose. Girl gives in. Girl watches video. Girl watches video again. Girl has fallen in love.
I am Girl in case you were wondering. And yeah that's pretty much how the story goes. But recently, YouTube took video away and now Girl is saddened. So I must find other videos of Aaron Tveit as Fiyero and the ETERNAL QUEST has not yet been completed. But I did find this little gem and I thought I'd share it with you. If you don't feel like watching the full 8 minutes and 50 seconds and just want to see my hero than skip to 5:45.
Isn't he amazing? Yeah, I want one for myself. And below is a video of him singing. There are five Fiyeros on the video so I don't blame you if you don't want to watch the whole thing. However, watching all of them is a good way to compare and possibly choose a favorite for yourself. Skip to 4:39 to see Aaron.
Wouldn't you just kill to be Alli Mauzey (Galinda) there? And yes, for those of you wondering, the second Fiyero is in fact Adam Lambert the controversial rock star and runner up of American Idol Season 8. But that's beside the point.
Point is, Aaron is a brilliant genius with a voice that melts my heart like the summer sun melts a stick of butter.
And finally for a video of the romantic scene between the best Fiyero and the worst Elphaba (in my oh-so humble opinion) watch the video below. Skip to 0:44 if you don't care about Galinda's solo.
Yeah Fiyero is my Prince and my valentine for the day. And just out of curiosity, which of the Fiyero's is your favorite?
Let's take a moment to cry before we go on.

Day 13: A Guilty Pleasure
I don' really know what to out. Of course I have a few options (Aaron Tveit, Converse high tops, old cars) none of which I feel particularly guilty about loving. Sooooo I will post something that I have been craving recently.
That is right bloggers. In 'N' Out Burger. I want to go there soooo bad. But since I live in Colorado and we don't have one here I cannot. So I'll just look at pictures of the food and drool on my keyboard.

Day 12: A Song You Would Like Played At Your Wedding
Okay those of you who know me know I can't have just one song. So I'll post the essentials.
~I want to walk down the aisle like this.
My best friend sent me this video a while ago. Neither of us watch Glee, but we both decided this is sheer inexplicable genius.
~For my first dance with my man I want this.
For two reasons. One: I *adore* Lifehouse (more specifically I *adore* Jason Wade). And Two: This is probably the most honest, adorable, perfect love song ever written.
~The father/daughter dance will be this.
Because this has been me and my dad's song for like ever.
~For my dance with all my bridesmaids: this.
Because the lyrics ring so true. And it's a fun dance song.
~And obviously at some point, this must be played.
Because I am freaking in love with this song. It's my favorite in the entire world. And it's adorable.
So yup those are but a few of my selections. A few others are I'll Be by Edwin McCain (acoustic version), Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer, and The Time of My Life by David Cook (all of which are found on the playlist at the bottom of my blog). Let me know what you think of them :)

Day 8: A Thank You Letter To Someone Who Has Changed Your Life
To my Designer,
I'm not exactly sure what to say. What words can honestly express my gratitude for everything You've done for me? The phrase "thank you" doesn't really seem big enough. You've done so much just so I can be happy. Everything I am I am because You allow me to be it. You've blessed me in more ways than I can count. I love You. And since "thank you" isn't enough, I'll just live a life solely devoted to paying You back for what You've done for me.
Love,
Charity

Thought I'd Give It A Shot
So I kind of *adore* photography right? More specifically . . . black and white photography. So when I saw this Happy Monday challenge at Allie Photography {The Blog} I simply had to enter. I took my entry photo, Ladies and Gents, this summer at the beach. The subject is mon frere, Matthew {aka Ma}, who is surprisingly photogenic at the age of seven.

Day 7: Five Things You Couldn't Possibly Live Without
1) God -- Duh
2) Family -- Love them
3) Friends -- Inside jokes
4) Music -- I'd rather be blind than deaf
5) Converse -- Best shoes ever
Notice how "Boys" aren't one of them.

I Want One
People make life interesting. Some are obnoxious. Some are stalkers. And some make you feel better about yourself. But some are brilliant. And this man, Alfred Angelo, is one of them. He is my new hero. He's designed a DISNEY PRINCESS wedding dress collection. And I want one of these for myself.
Dress #1: Briar Rose from Sleeping Beauty
Dress #2: Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Dress #3: Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Dress #4: Snow White from Snow White
Dress #5: Jasmine from Aladdin
Dress #6: Cinderella from Cinderella
Dress #7: Tiana from The Princess and the Frog
They remind me of when I was a child and wanted a real princess dress of my own. I am totally wearing Cinderella's for my wedding. I found my dress. Now I just need my Prince. You can see all the dresses again here. Which one would you want to wear?

XLV
Watching my Dad react to the Superbowl is more entertaining than watching the Superbowl itself. The Steelers have been his team since he was 8 or 9 years old so this game is a big deal for them. I personally hate football so the only reason I watch is for the commercials. The Steelers are currently catching up to the Packers and the second half in Dad's words is "a brand new game". It's going to be interesting to see how this game turns out. Steelers FTW!!! Let's rock Superbowl XLV
Guess What?

Day Six: A Moment You Wish You Could Relive
Every year our church has a youth winter retreat up at Youth Ranch in Buena Vista called Avalanche. Last year's was by far the best. That picture to the left is of me and my group of awesome friends. We took it on the last day of the retreat before the last session. What made that retreat awesome was that all of my best friends (Melissa, Lauren, Taylor, Hannah) and I were in the same room. We were together every waking moment. We as freshmen beat the seniors in the volleyball tournament. We got closer to our Designer. We laughed, we cried, we ate good food and overall we had a blast. I'm super excited for March when this year's Avalanche is going to be held. But until then, I can reflect on the wonderful memories of Avalanche's past.

Day 4: A Favorite Television Program
I've kind of blogged about this before (see my post titled "Happiness Is . . ."). The TV show is called White Collar and I *adore* it (for some pretty obvious reasons) but I'm going to blog about another of my favorite shows today. It's called The Middle and it's about a middle-class family of five who lives in Indiana. They're a very "average" family with all the struggles that would be expected. But the reason I like it the most is because it reminds me so much of my own family. My dad's name is Mike, like the father on the show and he's really into sports. Mom is like Francis, the working mother. I'm Axl, the oldest child who's always tired. My sister is Sue the quirky middle child. And my brother is the socially awkward Brick. The show is hilarious and you should definitely watch it if you get the chance.

Day 3: A Favorite Book
I have many. I *adore* books with everything in me but top of the list right now would have to be Flipped by Wendilin Van Draanen. I've read it five times since I got it from my aunt for my birthday a few years ago. It's a romantic comedy about a girl named Julianna (who is probably one of my fave fiction characters) and her neighbor Bryce and their relationship from 2nd to 8th grade. It's adorable where it should be, funny where it should be and also surprisingly profound where it should be. It has everything a good book should and I highly recommend it, whether you've read it already or not. They recently made a movie about it and where I was pleased that they basically stuck to the original plot line, I wasn't pleased with much else. They changed Bryce's hair and eye color, they set it in the wrong time period, they changed a few names and the girl who played Julianna was so not up to par with the standards I had set. I recommend reading the book BEFORE the movie if you see the movie at all. The book is much better. Trust me. I know.
